Gusty Winds Doesn’t Keep Oshkosh Fourth Graders From A Day Of Fishing!!

The day may have been cold with gusty winds, but that did not stop the Oaklawn Elementary fourth graders from going fishing with Captain Greg and volunteers of Learn 2 Fish With Us.  Captain Greg held three fishing sessions for the fourth graders.  Each session started out by educating the students on the skills and equipment needed to begin fishing through our Fishing Basics seminar.  After the Fishing Basics seminar, the fourth graders had the opportunity to fish for just over an hour in each session, where they caught bluegills, bass, perch and bullheads.  Jason Swaney of the Wisconsin DNR, talked with the kids and helped them fish during the final session of the day.  The fishing sessions were held at Menominee Park, which is located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Wednesday, May 24th.
