2014 Wissota Ice Fishing Classic

This past weekend I was in Chippewa Falls at the Wissota Ice Fishing Classic where I edcuated families on the ice fishing basics. We held three clinics on behalf of Learn 2 Fish With Us. A special thanks to all my sponsors for the great door prizes!! These families are ready to fish!!! A note: I received and email and it stated ‘Mission Accomplished’ and it read as follows: ‘The young gentlemen in the picture attended the seminar on Friday evening at the YMCA. You showed him how to tie a knot and he came home with one of the fishing combos.

On Saturday, he told his mother he wanted to ice fish at the tournament. His mother said he was so determined to participate that she could not tell him no. They arrived at the registration tent, explained he attended the Friday Basics seminar, and explained they knew nothing about ice fishing and hoped someone could assist. One of the members of the Walleye League took the young man and his mother to the ice and they began fishing.

The smile tells the story. Mission Accomplished!’

Milwaukee Musky Show

This past weekend I was at the Milwaukee Musky show where I spoke on introducing your kids to fishing, what the NPAA accomplished in 2013 and the Clean Drian Dry message. I then handed out Future Pro shirts to the kids that attended the seminar. The Milwaukee Musky Show held a Lure Contest/Auction, and all funds raised were donated to the NPAA. The Musky Brothers also did a great segment on introducing your kids to Musky fishing!!!

Presenting at National Professional Anglers Association

This past weekend I was at the National Professional Anglers Association Conference where I presented on NPAA Future Angler Events along with a motivational and inspirational message.   I had practiced my presentation throughout the week and never had the moment I had during my presentation.   When I saw Caiden on the screen looking at me, it helped me reflect on all the good I am doing, while promoting one of the greatest sports we have, FISHING!!!  My organization is called Learn 2 Fish With Us and the reason I decided to use ‘US’ is by us all working together, we can make great things happen!!!IMG_4615 IMG_4610

Average Age Of A PanFish – Where you close?

I am on Wisconsin’s Panfish Stakeholder group and when we had our first meeting in September I was talking to a fish biologist and asked for information on the average size for a panfish. This is an average size for a panfish.  Some lakes will grow panfish quicker while others the panfish growth rate may be slower. Where you close when you determined a panfish age?????

Lake Winnebago Perch Fishing is HOT!!

IMG_2625

This weekend I had Ted Peck in my boat to write a Lake Winnebago perch fishing article.  We did not hit the water until 1 PM but in two hours we had a nice mess of fish.  The perch ranged from 9 to 11 inches.  We were dead sticking using crawlers abd were hanging just of the reef edges.  I will be working on getting How To Video’s on perch fishing.
