Captain Greg and volunteers of Learn 2 Fish With Us shared their passion for fishing with students of St. Martin’s, on May 24th. It was the perfect day for an Outdoors Day. Fifth through Eighth graders attended Camp LiWisOmo, which is located in Wildrose, Wisconsin.
Fishing was one of the four stations during Outdoors Day. Students, rotated through the fishing station to learn the skills and equipment needed to begin fishing. Through the Fishing Basics seminar, Captain Greg taught them; safety while fishing, spin cast and spinning fishing combos, how to cast, different fishing presentations, fish identification, knots, live and artificial bait, aquatic invasive species, keeping a fishing log and so much more. After the seminar it was time for the students to actually fish. Fishing took place on Round Lake where students caught Bluegill’s and Largemouth Bass. All fish were released to fight another day.
Each student received a NPAA Future Pro shirt thanks to the National Professional Anglers Association. Learn 2 Fish With Us and our sponsors provided a fishing hat along with a Shakespeare My Fishing Journal for each of the students.
