At Learn 2 Fish With Us, we’re passionate about sharing the joy of fishing with youth and adults alike, helping them connect with nature and build lifelong skills. Recently, Captain Greg had the honor of hosting his “Icing Panfish on Local Lakes” seminar for the Kimberly High School Fishing Team—a moment that perfectly captures the heart of our mission.
This year marks a big milestone for Kimberly High School: it’s their first-ever fishing team! Seeing young anglers come together to learn, compete, and grow is exactly the kind of excitement we aim to inspire through our programs. During the seminar, Captain Greg shared his expertise on ice fishing techniques for panfish, offering tips on everything from selecting gear to understanding fish behavior under the ice.
A Full Circle Moment
What made this event even more special for Captain Greg was the recognition of a few familiar faces among the team. Some of the students participating in the seminar had attended his Fishing Basics Seminar years ago as third graders at Westside Elementary. Watching these young anglers continue their fishing journey, now as members of their high school team, was a deeply rewarding moment and a testament to the lasting impact of early fishing education.
The Coaches Behind the Team
The formation of the Kimberly High School Fishing Team wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of their coaches, Michael and Ryan. Their passion for the sport and commitment to fostering a love of fishing in students have been instrumental in making this team a reality. Their hard work is paving the way for a new generation of anglers, and we’re thrilled to support their efforts.
Why Fishing Education Matters
At Learn 2 Fish With Us, we believe that introducing youth to fishing isn’t just about teaching a skill—it’s about building confidence, encouraging outdoor exploration, and fostering connections with the environment. Events like this remind us why we do what we do. From planting the seeds of fishing knowledge in elementary school students to guiding high school teams on their ice-fishing adventures, our goal is to create experiences that anglers carry with them for a lifetime.
Go, Team Kimberly!
We’re so proud of the Kimberly High School Fishing Team and can’t wait to see what they achieve in their first year. Watching their journey unfold reminds us of the power of mentorship, education, and community in shaping the future of fishing.
