On Wednesday, January 14th, Captain Greg of Learn 2 Fish With Us presented his newest seminar, “Obtaining Sponsorships,” to the North Fondy Fishing Team. The seminar was designed to help young anglers understand what it truly takes to build meaningful relationships with sponsors and represent the sport of fishing in a professional way.
Captain Greg began by walking the team through how to identify potential sponsors and determine the right person within a company to contact. He explained that successful sponsorships start with research, professionalism, and clear communication.
A major focus of the seminar was preparing a fishing resume. Greg reviewed what should be included, such as fishing experience, tournament participation, community involvement, and personal strengths. He emphasized that a well-organized resume helps sponsors quickly understand who you are and what you bring to the table.
The team also learned the importance of creating activity reports and keeping them updated. Captain Greg explained how activity reports show sponsors the value of their support and help build long-term partnerships.
Giving back was another key topic. Greg discussed different ways anglers can give back to their sponsors and to the sport of fishing itself, including volunteering, mentoring younger anglers, and representing brands with integrity both on and off the water.
The seminar wrapped up with a discussion on creating video content and maintaining a strong social media presence. Captain Greg stressed the importance of keeping social media active, positive, and clean, as sponsors pay close attention to how anglers present themselves online.
The North Fondy Fishing Team asked great questions and showed strong interest in learning how to grow not only as anglers, but as ambassadors for the sport of fishing.
