Captain Greg held his Beyond the Basics seminar on Saturday afternoon during the Wisconsin Fishing Expo— and the room was packed! Youth, families, and adults filled the seats, all eager to learn the skills and equipment needed to take their fishing to the next level.
A few years back, Dan from the sport show asked if I could create a “next level” seminar. Many of the kids who attended my Fishing Basics seminar were growing up and ready to advance their skills. I thought it was a great idea… and Beyond the Basics was born!
During this seminar, attendees learned:
- Additional fishing safety tips
- How and when to use a baitcaster and line counter reel
- Jigging techniques and my go-to jigs
- Casting and trolling strategies (plus the crankbaits I trust)
- Crawler harness setups
- …and so much more!
Youth 16 and under received a mini tackle box filled with tackle. We also had three lucky winners take home some awesome prizes:

- Off Shore Tackle boards
