On September 1st, our very own Captain Greg had the opportunity to volunteer aboard the Wisconsin DNR trawler right here on Lake Winnebago!
Captain Greg spent the day working with the DNR team, helping count and document the fish that were netted during the survey. The fish included both young-of-the-year fish and adult fish, providing valuable information about the health and future of the Lake Winnebago system.
These surveys are an important part of understanding how the fish populations are doing. By collecting information on the different species, age classes, and numbers of fish throughout the system, the Wisconsin DNR can better monitor the health of the fishery and make informed management decisions.
And you know Captain Greg—he loves sharing his knowledge! Being out on the water with the DNR was another great opportunity for him to learn more about the Lake Winnebago system and share his own experiences and knowledge with others.
At Learn 2 Fish With Us, we believe that education is one of the keys to growing the sport of fishing. Whether Captain Greg is teaching a group of kids how to cast, presenting a walleye seminar, creating educational fishing videos, or volunteering with the Wisconsin DNR, he is always looking for opportunities to learn and help others become better stewards of our fisheries.
