On Friday, March 20th, spring was in the air as the third graders eagerly gathered to learn about fishing. Learn 2 Fish With Us and two members of the Kimberly High School Fishing Team hosted a Fishing Basics program for the 3rd graders at Westside Elementary in Kimberly, Wisconsin. With temperatures predicted to reach the 50s on Saturday, the students were especially excited to get outside and put their new skills to use.
This event marked the 15th year that Learn 2 Fish With Us has partnered with Westside Elementary, making it a special milestone for both the students and the program. During the session, students were introduced to the essential skills and equipment needed to begin fishing, opening the door to a lifelong outdoor activity.
The classroom was filled with energy as students eagerly participated and asked great questions throughout the program. From learning about basic fishing equipment to practicing simple techniques, the students quickly discovered how fun and accessible fishing can be.
Each student who participated received a fishing education book and a Learn 2 Fish With Us fishing shirt, made possible thanks to the generous support of our incredible sponsors. These resources will help students continue learning and stay excited about fishing long after the program ends.
