Learn 2 Fish With Us attended Shawano’s Sun Drop Dayz which was held this past Saturday, June 3rd in Shawano, Wisconsin.  Thanks to Jeff Ballwahn and his wife for sponsoring Learn 2 Fish With Us to be at the event.  Learn 2 Fish With Us fishing educational booth taught youth, families and adults many of the skills needed to fishing such as casting, knot tying, fish identification and more.  All these skills were taught through hands on education.   At 12:30 PM, Captain Greg hosted his Fishing Basics seminar which educated the youth and families on all the skills needed to fish from safety, fishing equipment, how to cast, fishing presentations, fish identification, keeping a fishing journal and the AIS Message of ‘Clean Drain Dry’ All youth attending the Fishing Basics seminar went home with a Shakespeare fishing combo that to National Professional Anglers Association and Learn 2 Fish With Us.  We also would like to thank Sun Drop for supplying cold Sun Drop to our volunteers as it was a very warm day!!!

On May 22nd the fifth graders from Hawley Environmental School were on an outdoor experience at Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center located in Wisconsin Dells.  Learn 2 Fish With Us was asked to provide the education on fishing along with taking them fishing.  The afternoon started out with Captain Greg presenting the Fishing Basics seminar where they learned about all the equipment along with the skills needed to fish.  Once the Fishing Basics seminar was completed, the group was split into four smaller groups so they could go fishing.  Prior to the seminar, Captain Greg checked out the are so they had a safe and hopefully good area to fish.  Due to the high and muddy water from the previous weeks rain, there was only a couple safe areas to fish.  The area Greg choose to fish was a back eddy off the main river.  Captain Greg was amazed at how the youth casted in an tight environment with trees and floating debris on the water.  The kids were excited when they or a classmate caught a fish.  You should have seen all the smiles when a fish was caught or a successful cast.  The fish caught were walleye, smallmouth and sheephead. .  Each youth received a NPAA Future Pro shirt and a Triton Boats or Off Shore Tackle Company hat.  Thanks to our sponsors.

This past Saturday may have been a cold and windy day but the kids and parents had smiles on their face has they learned about fishing.  Learn 2 Fish With Us was part of the Sturgeon Bay Bass Open (SBBOT) Kids Day which was held at Wave Point Maria in Sturgeon Bay.  Greg and Karen Karcg ran the Learn 2 Fish With Us booth which educated the youth on casting using Backyard Bass.  Here they learned how to cast and for the youth that knew how to cast learned how to cast better!!!  Other activities took place such as a casting contest, coloring contest, minnow races and more.  They even had inflatable toys for the youth.  At 12:30 PM Greg hosted his Fishing Basics seminar which educated the youth and families on all the skills needed to fish.

During the event Greg met Reece and Bryce who are 2016 & 2017 Wisconsin Junior Bass State Champions and Greg went head to head with them on Backyard Bass tournament.  They were amazed as Greg the walleye guy kicked there but.  That was so fun and they were great sports about it.  It was my pleasure meeting them and I see them doing great things as People and tourney fisherman!!!

Today may have been a windy and cold day but you would not have know that with all the smiles on the seventh graders.  This was the third year that Learn 2 Fish With Us hosted a fishing clinics for the third graders at Webster Stanley Middle School in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  The afternoon started with the seventh grader being split up into the two groups.  The first group entered the auditorium to learn all the skills and equipment needed to fish.  Captain Greg presented his Fishing Basics seminar.  Once completed it was time for the seventh graders to go fishing.  They had to walk almost a half mile to get to the less windy side of the bay to fish.  The seventh graders were using the Learn 2 Fish With Us fishing combos and The Reel Shot provided the bait.  Bluegills and sheephead were caught.   Once the first group left to fish, it was the second groups turn to learn about fishing.  Once completed they went fishing.  The last five Learn 2 Fish With Us clinics the question of why is a Muskie so important in Wisconsin was answered!!  It is Wisconsin’s state fish!!!  Way to go Webster Stanley seventh graders!!

On Tuesday May 16th, Captain Greg of Learn 2 Fish With Us and Karen Karch, taught the Mount Olive boy and girl Pioneers all the skills needed to fish.  Mount Olive Lutheran Church is located in Appleton, Wisconsin.  Greg started of the evening presenting his Fishing Basics seminar which educates the attendee’s everything from safety while fishing, fishing combos, fishing presentations, how to tie clinch knot, live and artificial bait,fishing identification, AIS message of ‘Clean Drain Dry’  After the seminar the youth attended three educational stations where they had hands on training on casting, tying  Clinch and Palomar knot and finally learning all the details on the Shakespeare fishing combo that they would receive after the fishing clinic.  They were excited when they found out bout the fishing combo!!

On Friday May 5th, Captain Greg of Learn 2 Fish With Us, attended Zielanis Elementary Career and Hobby Day.  Greg sessions taught the youth about the skills needed to go fishing.  They learned everything from safety while fishing, fishing combos, fishing presentations, how to tie clinch knot, fishing identification, AIS message of ‘Clean Drain Dry’  They also learned how to cast and set the hook which required them to go into the halls to practicing casting.  The youth really enjoyed that they were  able to do hands on learning.  When Greg started his session he explained that each youth could get a Shakespeare fishing combo if they got seven questions correct out of ten questions.  The youth soon found out that Greg was kidding around and that they did not have to pass a test.

On Friday April 28th the third graders at Woodland Elementary let Captain Greg know that he was NOT BORING when presenting his Fishing Basics seminars..  The third graders were split into two groups, so many of them could participate in the hands on learns during the seminar.  Greg said the third graders were so engaged in learning about fishing and asked so many questions to make sure they were understanding what he was teaching them on fishing.  Besides learning about the skills needed to fish they learned about the equipment used during fishing.  When Greg reviewed the AIS message of ;Clean Drain Dry’ they expressed that they had talked about it in Science class.  Greg was impressed!!

As the seminar was coming to a close the third graders had thought they would have to take a fishing test and pass it to receive a NPAA Future Pro short which looked very close to Greg’s Pro shirt.  But, Greg said they had run out of time and there would be no test.  The kids were excited!!!  Thanks to the NPAA for the donation of Future Pro shirts.  We would also like to thank all are other sponsors as this would not be possible without them..  Jimmy, asked Greg if he would sign his shirt and soon there was a line for Greg to sign their shirts.  Greg said, “It’s important for us to educate promote the great sport of fishing to future generations!!!”.

Ladies were introduced to all the skills needed to fish this past Monday at The Reel Shot located in Appleton, Wisconsin.  Learn 2 Fish With Us, Angler Educator, Greg Karch, hosted the fishing seminar which taught ladies all the skills needed to go fishing.  The ladies attending, had many experience levels from never fished to having fished about twenty times this past year.  Greg updated his Fishing Basics seminar to included many new topics such as bait casters, how to hook the different baits, how to properly net a fish and so much more.  The seminar lasted two hours and from the feedback could have gone longer.  Feedback from the ladies; ‘Enjoyed doing the hands on activities’, ‘enjoyed Greg’s patience when tying a Clinch knot for the first time’.  All the ladies felt empowered to go fishing in the upcoming weeks.  Greg provided a booklet which helped explain where and when to fish some of the local shore fishing areas.

On Friday March 24^th, Learn 2 Fish With Us Certified Angler Educator, Greg Karch hosted a fishing seminar to introduce Westside Elementary third graders to the sport of fishing. Westside Elementary Is located in Kimberly, Wisconsin.  The afternoon started off with the third graders asking Greg questions such as how fast does his boat go, what is the biggest fish he has caught and what was his favorite food?  Greg rattled off answers to all their questions.  Then it was time for Greg to present his Fishing Basics seminar.

Fishing Basics seminar educated the students on all the skills needed to fish such as: safety while fishing, fishing combos, how to cast, fishing presentations, knots, bait, fish identification, parts of a fish, the environment and the Clean Drain Dry message.  Fishing Basics, allows youth to come up and work with Greg to get hands on learning.  When Greg would ask for a volunteer you should have seen how quickly the students hands would go up.  Thanks to the NPAA, each third grader went home with a Future Pro shirt.  Jimmy, asked Greg if he would sign his shirt and soon there was a line for Greg to sign their shirts.  Greg said, “It’s important for us to educate promote the great sport of fishing to future generations!!!”.
