Yesterday I spent sometime ice fishing and shooting some video that I will share at the Maplewood Fishing Club when I talk about ice fishing equipment and techniques. The first part of the video was techniques and the later part is catching all the fish as I had a great couple of hours!! Started out fishing plastic but luckily I had spikes. Last week I attended the National Professional Anglers Association in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I presented a seminar on ‘Look to the Future’ which reviewed everything to think about when hosting a Future Angler Event. From who is looking for a clinic, location, type of clinic, what to review during the clinic, sponsors and more. At the conference I received an award for Outstanding Service and Dedication as NPAA Future Angler Chair.

Another year has gone by and our Chain of Lakes Youth Tournament was a huge sucess. As you know, this event is a put together and made possible by volunteers, donators and sponsors. I want to take the time to thank you Greg and the NPAA for your continued support and generous donation; I just can’t express my gratitude enough. The memories you helped create and the happy faces captured will always remind us of how special our kids are and how wonderful it is to be a part of bringing the outdoors to our youth.

Today I was at the Yahara Fishing Club fishing event, which was held on Wisconsin’s free fishing weekend. The event was held in Madison, Wisconsin at Warner Park. We had over four hundred kids that attend the event and just as many parents. The event started out with all the kids getting a fishing combo then they were off fishing!!! Many fish were caught. At 11 AM I presented my Fishing Basics seminar where the kids had many questions from their fishing experience that morning. Lunch was then serverd and most kids went home with an additional door prize.

What a great day!! We start out at the 1000 Island Nature center where Greg Karch presented his Fishing Basics seminar. After the seminar was completed and all the questions answered they went fishing. All the Cub Scouts learned the skills need to get the Fishing Belt Loop. Now it was time to fish!! We had awards for two age categories for the largets, smallest and most fish. Each youth received a fishing related item thanks to our great sponsors!!!
