Today Captain Greg had the pleasure of presenting his Icing Panfish on the Bago System for the Kaukauna High School Fishing Team!! What a great fishing team. The Kaukauna High School Fishing Team will be rigging a couple hundred fishing combos for our upcoming 2024 Learn 2 Fish With Us fishing clinics!! Thank you so much for your help and wanting to grow the sport of fishing to future generations!!

Learn 2 Fish With Us and our volunteers hosted so many fishing clinics in 2023, educating over five thousand youth and families to the great sport of fishing.  To date, Learn 2 Fish With Us has hosted nearly four hundred FREE fishing clinics since their inception in 2009. 

This year’s fishing clinics were hosted for schools all across Wisconsin, YMCA’s, Boys & Girls Clubs, United States Forest Service, Sport Shows, State and local parks, Park & Recs, Scouts, Breakfast on the Farm, Bike and Fish, and so many more organizations across Wisconsin, Ohio and Michigan.  What an accomplishment for Captain Greg, Learn 2 Fish With Us and our awesome volunteers!! 

Captain Greg, founded Learn 2 Fish With Us in 2009 and has been averaging thirty fishing clinics a year, since its inception.   All Learn 2 Fish With Us fishing clinics are FREE to the organizations due to their great sponsors which include: National Professional Anglers Association, Shakespeare, Berkley, J.J. When an organization contacts Learn 2 Fish With Us, Captain Greg works with them to determine the best fishing clinic for them.  A fishing clinic will always start out with a fishing seminar, which will provide education on the skills and equipment needed to begin or advance in fishing.  If there is additional time, youth will attend hands on education stations which would consist of casting, knot tying and so much more.  If water is nearby, or group will host a field trip to water, youth will go fishing from shore with Captain Greg and Learn 2 Fish With Us volunteers.

Learn 2 Fish With Us host three different seminars.  The first seminar is ‘Fishing Basics’ which educates youth, families and adults to all the skills and equipment need to begin fishing.  ‘Fishing Basics’ educates attendees on; safety while fishing, spin cast and spinning fishing combos, casting safely and accurately, basic fishing presentations, knots, fish identification, parts of a fish, live and artificial bait and aquatic invasive species and so much more.  

The second seminar is ‘Beyond The Basics’ which allows youth and adults to build upon the fishing education learned in the ‘Fishing Basic’ seminar.  Attendees will learn about advanced skills and equipment such as: bait caster and line counter reels, advanced fishing presentations of jigging / casting / trolling, jigs and plastics, crankbaits, how a graph works, fish marks, maps, filleting a fish and cooking of the fish.

The third seminar is ‘Ice Fishing Basics’ which educates youth, families and adults to all the skills and equipment need to begin ice fishing.  ‘Ice Fishing Basics’ educates attendees on; safety while ice fishing, augers, ice fishing combos, ice fishing jigs and spoons, tip ups, tip downs, knots, fish identification, live and artificial bait and aquatic invasive species.

On Monday, October 10^th, Learn 2 Fish With Us traveled to Pulaski, Wisconsin to teach scouts and siblings the sport of fishing.  The evening started out with scouts and siblings learning the skills and equipment needed to begin fishing.  They learned; safety while fishing, spin cast and spinning fishing combos, how to cast safely and accurately, simple fishing presentations, how to tie the Clinch and Palomar knot, fish identification, live and artificial bait, aquatic invasive species and so much more. 

Learn 2 Fish With Us was happy to be back as they hosted a fishing clinic for the Pulaski scouts in 2019 and they said Learn 2 Fish With Us was the talk of the pack since then.

Thanks to the National Professional Anglers Association, Future Angler Foundation and Learn 2 Fish With Us sponsors, each youth received a fishing combo, NPAA Future Pro Shirt and fishing educational book. 

This past month, Learn 2 Fish With Us Facebook went viral!!  Learn 2 Fish With Us post an average of two to three fishing educational post per week which includes fishing videos, tips and our in-person fishing events.  Last month we had two knot post, that went viral.  The first post was a Palomar knot, and Learn 2 Fish With Us had just over five million reached.  The second post, was the Clinch and Improved Clinch knot, which had just over 19 million reached.  These post had thousands of comments and theses post were shared nearly ten thousand times!!  Learn 2 Fish With Us now has many new followers from all across the globe, showing how important it is to sharing our fishing education!!

Learn 2 Fish With Us and our volunteers educated youth on vital skills needed to begin fishing during The Big Event, which was held Saturday, September 16th at Heritage Hills State Park in Green Bay, Wisconsin.   The Big Event is a fundraiser for Encompass, which as programs to promote a healthy body and healthy mind for young children.  Learn 2 Fish With Us believes that fishing promotes a promote a healthy body and healthy mind for all!!  Captain Greg Karch and his crew taught youth how to cast safely and accurately, fish identification and how to tie a Clinch and Palomar knot in Learn 2 Fish With Us fishing education booth.  All skills that are so vital when fishing as a family.   You should of seen and heard the excitement when a youth would catch a Backyard Bass!!  We had over five hundred people that entered the fishing educational booth.
