Making A Difference By Inspiring Youth From Greater Milwaukee Boys & Girls Club

Learn 2 Fish With Us has partnered with many Boys & Girls Clubs over the years, but this fishing clinic meant so much to us, as most youth attending had never fished or even held a fishing combo.  Last year we scheduled a fishing clinic, but due to storms, it was canceled.   This year working with the Greater Milwaukee Boys & Girls Clubs we quickly filled two days.  Today we had thirty-eight youth so that we could have a safe and enjoyable environment with plenty of help.  The fishing clinic was held at Smokey’s Musky Shop, on Pewaukee Lake, in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Captain Greg presented his Fishing Basics seminar which taught attendees the skills and equipment needed to begin fishing.  Youth learned; safety while fishing, spin cast and spinning fishing combos, how to cast, different fishing presentations, fish identification, knots, live and artificial bait, aquatic invasive species, keeping a fishing log and so much more.  After the seminar, youth went fishing for almost two hours where they caught Bass, Bluegill’s, Perch and even a snapper turtle.  All fish were released to fight another day.

Each youth received a fully rigged fishing combo, NPAA Future Pro shirt and fishing educational book thanks to the National Professional Anglers Association, Future Angler Foundation and Learn 2 Fish With Us.  These youth were excited!!
