Oaklawn Elementary Students Learn How To Fish

On Friday, September 4th at Menominee Park in Oshkosh, Wisconsin Oaklawn Elementary students learned about fishing and then went fishing.  Greg Karch presented a shortened version of his Fishing Basics seminar which included water safety, spin cast combos, casting, setting the hook, knots, fishing with a bobber and the Clean Drain Dry message.

After the seminar the students went fishing where sheephead and perch were caught.  Greg was amazed at how well all the students casted and were patient when the fishing was slow.  Over one hundred and fifty students learned about fishing.  Thanks to the NPAA each of the students went he with a Future Pro shirt and even some had their shirt signed by Greg.  Talking with the teachers we hope that we can bring a after school Fishing Club to Oshkosh.
