Here’s a great video on how to make your own ice fishing jigs for shallow water fishing. Creating your own jigs allows you to customize and by creating a shallow water jig with slow fall can allow for a big time payoff when fishing between one and six feet of water.

This video will explain the equipment and bait we are using to catch bluegills while ice fishing on a near by lake this past week.  After this video you will want to get out on the ice!!

Here is a video from Captain Greg’s trip to the Mississippi River last week to fish for panfish, which included Bluegill, Crappie and Perch.  Captain Greg used his long ice fishing rods from Frabill called the Jiggler with three pound test and a ice jig with a red and white spike.  Greg did start out using plastic but the fish were pretty neutral so he used live bait.  Greg also used tip downs with a small minnows to catch Crappie, Perch, Northern and Largemouth Bass.
