It May Have Been Hot Out But So Was The Fishing For The Girl Scouts

It may have been a hot day, but so was the fishing!!  On Saturday, June 5th, we hosted a fishing clinic for girl scouts of Northeast Wisconsin.  The fishing clinic was held at Marion Park, which is located Marion, Wisconsin.  The morning started out with Captain Greg educating the girl scouts on the skills and equipment needed to begin fishing.  After the seminar, girl scouts split up into three groups, where they attended three hands on educational stations.  The first station, was knot tying, where girl scouts tied a Palomar and Clinch knot.  The second station, girl scouts learned how to cast safely and accurately.  The final station was fish identification along with live and artificial bait.  Girl scouts enjoyed being able to see and touch the live bait.   Once the girl scouts rotated through the educational stations, it was time for them to go fishing!!    Girl scouts caught a lot of fish which included bluegills, perch and bass.  The fish where close to shore, so, the scouts enjoyed seeing all the fish swimming around.

Girl scouts were excited to learn that each of them would receive a fishing combo, NPAA Future Angler shirt thanks to the National Professional Anglers Association and Future Angler Foundation.   Thanks to The Reel Shot for providing the bait for all our fishing clinics.
