On Friday May 5th, Captain Greg of Learn 2 Fish With Us, attended Zielanis Elementary Career and Hobby Day.  Greg sessions taught the youth about the skills needed to go fishing.  They learned everything from safety while fishing, fishing combos, fishing presentations, how to tie clinch knot, fishing identification, AIS message of ‘Clean Drain Dry’  They also learned how to cast and set the hook which required them to go into the halls to practicing casting.  The youth really enjoyed that they were  able to do hands on learning.  When Greg started his session he explained that each youth could get a Shakespeare fishing combo if they got seven questions correct out of ten questions.  The youth soon found out that Greg was kidding around and that they did not have to pass a test.

On Friday April 28th the third graders at Woodland Elementary let Captain Greg know that he was NOT BORING when presenting his Fishing Basics seminars..  The third graders were split into two groups, so many of them could participate in the hands on learns during the seminar.  Greg said the third graders were so engaged in learning about fishing and asked so many questions to make sure they were understanding what he was teaching them on fishing.  Besides learning about the skills needed to fish they learned about the equipment used during fishing.  When Greg reviewed the AIS message of ;Clean Drain Dry’ they expressed that they had talked about it in Science class.  Greg was impressed!!

As the seminar was coming to a close the third graders had thought they would have to take a fishing test and pass it to receive a NPAA Future Pro short which looked very close to Greg’s Pro shirt.  But, Greg said they had run out of time and there would be no test.  The kids were excited!!!  Thanks to the NPAA for the donation of Future Pro shirts.  We would also like to thank all are other sponsors as this would not be possible without them..  Jimmy, asked Greg if he would sign his shirt and soon there was a line for Greg to sign their shirts.  Greg said, “It’s important for us to educate promote the great sport of fishing to future generations!!!”.

Ladies were introduced to all the skills needed to fish this past Monday at The Reel Shot located in Appleton, Wisconsin.  Learn 2 Fish With Us, Angler Educator, Greg Karch, hosted the fishing seminar which taught ladies all the skills needed to go fishing.  The ladies attending, had many experience levels from never fished to having fished about twenty times this past year.  Greg updated his Fishing Basics seminar to included many new topics such as bait casters, how to hook the different baits, how to properly net a fish and so much more.  The seminar lasted two hours and from the feedback could have gone longer.  Feedback from the ladies; ‘Enjoyed doing the hands on activities’, ‘enjoyed Greg’s patience when tying a Clinch knot for the first time’.  All the ladies felt empowered to go fishing in the upcoming weeks.  Greg provided a booklet which helped explain where and when to fish some of the local shore fishing areas.

On Friday March 24^th, Learn 2 Fish With Us Certified Angler Educator, Greg Karch hosted a fishing seminar to introduce Westside Elementary third graders to the sport of fishing. Westside Elementary Is located in Kimberly, Wisconsin.  The afternoon started off with the third graders asking Greg questions such as how fast does his boat go, what is the biggest fish he has caught and what was his favorite food?  Greg rattled off answers to all their questions.  Then it was time for Greg to present his Fishing Basics seminar.

Fishing Basics seminar educated the students on all the skills needed to fish such as: safety while fishing, fishing combos, how to cast, fishing presentations, knots, bait, fish identification, parts of a fish, the environment and the Clean Drain Dry message.  Fishing Basics, allows youth to come up and work with Greg to get hands on learning.  When Greg would ask for a volunteer you should have seen how quickly the students hands would go up.  Thanks to the NPAA, each third grader went home with a Future Pro shirt.  Jimmy, asked Greg if he would sign his shirt and soon there was a line for Greg to sign their shirts.  Greg said, “It’s important for us to educate promote the great sport of fishing to future generations!!!”.

This past weekend, Learn 2 Fish With Us Certified Angler Educator, Greg Karch, and Karen Karch shared their passion for fishing through hosting two fishing seminars at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sport Show.  Greg presented his Fishing Basics seminar right next to Lake Milwaukee which had a boat, pontoon along with a few kayaks.  The families were so excited to learn all the skills needed for fishing which included safety, fishing combo’s, casting, fishing presentations, fish identification, knots, bait, AIS message of ‘Clean Drain Dry’.  Learn 2 Fish With Us added a new element to their Fishing Basics seminar which showed attendee’s how to properly net a fish.  After the fishing seminar, youth had the opportunity to practice casting in Lake Milwaukee.  Greg was amazed at how many adults attended the Fishing Basics seminar both days which shows that the public is looking for seminars like the Fishing Basics.   Youth attending the seminars received a Shakespeare fishing combo on Saturday and Fishouflage Visor on Sunday thanks to Learn 2 Fish With Us and their sponsors.

This past weekend Learn 2 Fish With Us Angler Educator, Greg Karch, was featured in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sport Show Section.  Check out host story as he will be presenting our Fishing Basics seminar at the up coming Sport Show on Saturday at 4:15 PM and Sunday at 2:15 PM.  Youth will receive a Shakespeare fishing combo on Saturday and Sunday they will receive a Fishouflage visor on Sunday.

Learn 2 Fish With Us sponsored Family Day at the Northeast Wisconsin Fishiin Show giving the first one hundred youth a Plano Stowaway with Northland Tackle which consisted of a bobber, jigs, hooks, and sinkers.  Everything needed to go fishing!!  Angler Educator Greg Karch and UW Oshkosh Titans Fishing Team member, Larissa Olin, conducted a Fishing Basics seminar which educated all attendee’s on the skills needed to go fishing.  After the seminar, Greg and Larissa worked with the families on any of the skills they learned during the clinics.  Thanks to Cabela’s all the youth went hone with a fishing combo.

This past weekend, Learn 2 Fish With Us Certified Angler Educator, Greg Karch, and Tim Euting and Karen Karch educated future anglers during the Wisconsin Fishing Expo which was held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin. Greg hosted three ‘Learn 2 Fish With Us’ seminars which introduced youth and families to all the skills need to begin fishing. These skills included; fishing safety, spin cast and spinning combos, setting the hook, casting, knots, fish identification, parts of a fish, bait, catch and release, and the AIS message of ‘Clean, Drain and Dry’. Youth attending the seminar received a Shakespeare fishing combo or a NPAA Future Pro Shirt thanks to the National Professional Anglers Association.

This past week Thrivent employee’s helped refurbish Learn 2 Fish With Us fishing combo’s. Reels were checked that they were in good working order, all old line was removed and replenished with new Berkley XL eight pound line. All hooks and sinkers were replaced along with any bobbers that were cracked. Greg has been amazed at the quality of the Shakespeare fishing equipment as it was four years old and keeps on fishing!!!! All we have had to do is the standard maintenance.
