It was Labor Day weekend and Learn 2 Fish With Us and NPAA Members Captain Greg Karch #138 and Karen Karch #121 hosted a fishing clinic at Conroy’s Bear Lake Resort And Campground, which is located in Manawa, Wisconsin.  The fishing clinic was held on Sunday September 5^th. 

The fishing clinic was held right next to Bear Lake and were the youth, families and adults excited for Captain Greg to present his Fishing Basics seminar.  Attendees learned about all the equipment and skills needed to begin fishing, which included; Safety while fishing, spin cast and spinning fishing combos, how to cast safely and accurately, how to tie a Palomar and Clinch knot, simple fishing presentations, fish identification, live and artificial bait, aquatic invasive species, keeping our water clean and keeping a fishing journal.   After the Fishing Basics seminar, many of the attendees had questions for Captain Karch on fishing in general and fishing Bear Lake.

Each youth attending the fishing clinic received a Future Pro shirt and a mini tackle box with a bobber, sinkers, plastics, Northland jigs and Tru-Turn hooks along with a fishing journal thanks to Learn 2 Fish With Us, National Professional Anglers Association and Future Angler Foundation.

Learn 2 Fish With Us and Head2Head Fishing hosted two youth fishing clinics during their fifth stop of the Head2Head Fishing Pro Walleye Series.  Event five was held on Lake McConaughy in Ogallala, Nebraska.  The first fishing clinic, was held at the Lake McConaughy State Recreation Visitor Center on Monday, August 23^rd and the second fishing clinic was held at Lured In.  This was Learn 2 Fish With Us furthest fishing clinic to date at just over eight hundred miles one way from their headquarters of Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Head2Head Fishing Pro Walleye Series anglers and officials along with Captain Greg of Learn 2 Fish With Us, educated youth on the equipment and skills needed to begin fishing.  Each evening started out with a Fishing Basics seminar, which taught future anglers; safety while fishing, spin cast and spinning fishing combos, casting, different fishing presentations, knots, fish identification, live and artificial bait and aquatic invasive species.  After the seminar, Head2Head Fishing Pro Walleye Series anglers and officials, worked with families on hands activities such as tying a Clinch and Palomar knot and casting.

To end the fishing clinics each youth received a fishing combo, NPAA Future Pro Shirt and My Fishing Journal, thanks to the National Professional Anglers Association and Future Angler Foundation.  They were so excited!

Learn 2 Fish With Us so enjoys working with the Head2Head Pro Walleye Series and look forward to the next fishing clinics, which will be held during the Lake Chautaugua event, the week of October 11^th.

On July 27th Learn 2 Fish With Us volunteers rigged one hundred and thirty fishing combos with a bobber, hook and sinker.  It was a fun evening as so many of the volunteers talked about there fun experiences during 2021 fishing clinics.  Theses fishing combos will be used at upcoming fishing clinics to hand out to the youth attending a fishing clinic.  Captain Greg expressed his gratitude to the volunteers as this would have taken him many days to accomplish.  

Saturday, July 24^th may have started out raining, but that was alright as the youth learned the skills and equipment needed to begin fishing in a sheltered area.  Learn 2 Fish With Us volunteers and National Professional Anglers Association members, Captain Greg Karch #138 and Karen Karch #121 held a fishing clinic for the youth and adults of Faith Christian and Victory churches.  These churches are located in the cities of New London and Waupaca which is located in Wisconsin.  During the ‘Fishing Basics’ seminar, they learned; safety while fishing, spin cast and spinning fishing combos, casting, different fishing presentations, knots, fish identification, live and artificial bait and aquatic invasive species and so much more.

When the seminar was over the rain had stopped and it was time to go fishing!!  Bluegills, perch and bass were caught by the youth.  You should have seen all the smiles!!  Memories were made.

Thanks to the National Professional Anglers Association and Future Angler Foundation for providing fishing combos and Future Pro shirts.   The Reel Shot provided bait for this fishing clinic along with all our other fishing clinics.

On July 22, Captain Greg helped out at the Badger Sportsman Magazine Fishing Outing. These youth attended a Learn 2 Fish With Us fishing clinic on June 23rd where they learned about the skills and equipment needed to begin fishing and fished from shore. Wee today was there day to get to fish from a boat thanks to the Badger Sportsman Magazine Fishing Outing. Prior to the youth getting in the boat, Captain Greg presented a fishing and boating safety seminar. Youth then put on a life jacket and went fishing with a captain. Captain Greg was a helper in James boat. James boat caught eighteen fish which was the most for the eight boats. They youth caught walleye, smallmouth, catfish, sheephead and perch.

Learn 2 Fish With Us provided a mini tackle box with tackle for each of the youth.

That day all we saw were SMILIES!!

Learn 2 Fish With Us and Head2Head Fishing Pro Walleye Series hosted fishing clinics at Lions Levee Park which was located next to the Mississippi River in Saint Paul Park, Minnesota.  This was Head2Head Fishing Pro Walleye Series fourth stop for the year.  Fishing clinics were held Monday, July 12th and Wednesday, July 14^th.  Head2Head Fishing Pro Walleye Series anglers along with Captain Greg of Learn 2 Fish With Us educated youth on the equipment and skills needed to begin fishing.  The evening started out with a Fishing Basics seminar which taught the future anglers; safety while fishing, spin cast and spinning fishing combos, casting, different fishing presentations, knots, fish identification, live and artificial bait and aquatic invasive species.  After the seminar, youth worked with Head2Head Fishing Pro Walleye Series anglers, where families tied knots and practiced casting.

At the end of the fishing clinic the youth all learned they would receive a fishing combo, NPAA Future Pro Shirt, My Fishing Journal thanks to the National Professional Anglers Association and Future Angler Foundation.  They were so excited!

Learn 2 Fish With Us so enjoyed working with the Head2Head Pro Walleye Series and look forward to the next fishing clinics which will be held at lake McConaughy State Recreation Area on August 23^rd and Lured In Ogallala Store on August 25^th from 4:30 PM to 6 PM.

It may have been in the works for many years, but today the Greater Milwaukee Boys & Girls Clubs from all around the Milwaukee area, attended a Fishing Clinic which was hosted by Captain Greg Karch of Learn 2 Fish With Us and the National Professional Anglers Association.  This fishing clinic, was in planning stages for two years and had a date in June of 2020, but due to COVID, was canceled.  Finally, on Friday July 9^th, the fishing clinic was held at Pewaukee Lake in Waukesha, Wisconsin.  Over fifty youth attended the fishing clinic of which forty-four never fished.

Captain Greg presented his Fishing Basics seminar which taught attendees the skills and equipment needed to begin fishing.  Youth learned; safety while fishing, spin cast and spinning fishing combos, how to cast, different fishing presentations, fish identification, knots, live and artificial bait, aquatic invasive species, keeping a fishing log and so much more.  After the seminar, youth went fishing for almost two hours where they caught Bluegill’s and Perch.  All fish were released to fight another day.

Each youth received a fishing combo, NPAA Future Pro shirt and fishing educational book thanks to the National Professional Anglers Association and the Future Angler Foundation.

Captain Greg said ‘Today we made a difference!!!’  As Captain Greg shared details of this fishing clinic, he gave me chills!!  You can see the passion he has for educating the public on fishing!!  Learn 2 Fish With Us, National Professional Anglers Association and Future Angler Foundation has done great things and will continue to do great things for fishing!!
