Perch Fishing continues to be good on Lake Winnebago

This morning I was perch fishing with my buddy Randy.  Started out slow but after the 5th spot we got into them.  Also found a secondary spot that we also did well.  We kept 18 for a meal and the rest went back.  The largest was over 12 inches and it took the bait deep so we had to keep it.

Greg Karch will be part of Wisconsin’s DNR Panfish Stakeholder Group

The Wisconsin DNR has asked me to be part of the Panfish Stakeholder Group which will help in establishing a management plan for panfish.  This will include helping to set panfish goals and objectives.  They asked me to be part of the group due to my efforts in promoting fishing to the youth and families.  Our first meeting will be in September.  Facebook friends message me your feedback and ideas.  Thanks!!!

Perch fishing is heating up on Lake Winnebago!!!

Traded in the walleye fishing equipment for the perch fishing equipment and got some dandies.  Perch fishing is starting to heat up on Bago!!!  We were fishing just off the reefs in about 14 feet of water and dead sticking.  Red worms by far was the best bait with pieces of crawler not far behind.

Fishing Clinic we held prior to Bago Walleye Club tournament weigh-in

Sunday I did a Fishing Clinic prior to the Bago Walleye Club weigh-ins at Menominee Park in Oshkosh.  After a tough day of fishing it was great to come in to talk and teach fishing to the kids.  All the kids went home with a fishing combo and NPAA Future Angler Shirt!!!  A big thanks to Karen Karch for helping to set everything up as I was fishing the torunament and Tim Euting for helping and allowing me to come in early.  Thanks to all my sponsors for allowing me to help with growing the great sport of FISHING!!

High Cliff State Park Fishing Clinic Feedback

Yesterday I received this email for the Fishing Clinic I did at High Cliff State Park:

Hi Greg and Karen,
Just wanted to send a special thank you for putting on probably the best program for kids and families that we have ever had at the park. We have had tremendously positive feedback from the adults, and I am still getting replies from those who attended.  I hope that we met your expectations and that you will consider coming back in the future. Perhaps we could resurrect our Outdoor Skills Day and have you as our featured guest. Just a thought!

2013 Farm Technology Days Fishing Clinic

This past week I attended 2013 Farm Technology Days in Barron, Wisconsin where I had an educational booth on fishing.  We worked with the kids on fish identification, knots and casting.  Almost every youth caught a backyard bass while casting.  I was on the Youth Stage twice where I presented my ‘Fishing Basics’ seminar.  We had over two thousand kids that went through the booth.
