This past Friday Learn 2 Fish With Us was highlighted in the Oshkosh Northwestern.  Founder and Angler Educator Greg Karch was interviewed for the story.  Learn 2 Fish With Us knew they would be in the paper, but when they picked up a copy were shocked that they were on the front page.  Learn 2 Fish With Us co-hosted a fishing clinic with Plymouth Church that was a huge success.  Check out the 2015 Plymouth Church Family Fishing Clinic post for more details of that event.

Chris from Mad Wraps LLC donated a truck wrap to Learn 2 Fish With Us.  Patti Parcell, Learn 2 Fish With Us Board Member, worked with Nate at Mad Wraps to come up with this great design for the truck wrap.  Besides Greg being an angler educator, he also is a professional walleye fisherman.  So when Greg saw the truck wrap he was excited.  The splash ‘FREE Fishing Clinics’ will hopefully draw organizations that are looking for a fishing clinic.  This truck wrap should get the youth excited for the fishing clinic when Greg drives into the parking lot!!!

On Saturday, May 16th, Learn 2 Fish With Us educated youth and families on the fishing basics and then had the families utilize their newly learned skills to catch some fish.  Learn 2 Fish With Us partnered with the State Parks to providing fishing clinics at a couple Wisconsin State Parks.

The families attended the ‘Fishing Basics’ seminar where they learned everything needed to start fishing as a family.  One dad was really excited that he and his son now know how to tie a couple different fishing knots  After the seminar it was time to practice casting with Backyard Bass.  The kids were excited that they could catch fish on land.  Next it was time to go fishing where almost each youth caught a fish.  They families fished for about an hour and half.  Next, each youth found out they were getting a fishing combo and a door prize.  You should have seen all the excited kids!!!

On Friday, May 15th Learn 2 Fish With Us educated a one hundred and forty seventh graders from Webster Middle School.  We split the group into seventy students each.  The first group attended the ‘Fishing Basics’ seminar where they learned everything needed to fish.  Greg worked with many of the students doing hands-on activities.  Once the ‘Fishing Basics’ seminar was completed it was time for them to go fishing.  Learn 2 Fish With Us provided the fishing equipment along with the bait which was donated by The Reel Shot.  Fishing was tough as the lake fly hatch has been going on for two weeks.  The first group did catch four fish in an hour.  One girl that never fished caught two of the fish.  Thanks to Plano the boy and girl that caught the largest fish were awarded a KVD tackle box.

Once the first group went fishing the second group attended the ‘Fishing Basics’.  After the seminar it was time for them to go fishing.  The NPAA donated a shirt for each of the youth and were they excited.

Check out this story that Hannah wrote along with the great pictures.  Hannah wrote this story for her dad’s birthday.  This past weekend at the Lil Angler event Hannah shared this and I thought I would share this with you.  Hannah just turned eight and I think she is well on here way as a story book writer!!!  What do you think?

This past weekend Learn 2 Fish With Us was at the Lil Angler event where they assisted families during the fishing part of the event.  The event was held in Kaukauna and had over 175 youth attend the event.  Angler Educator Greg Karch worked with the families on casting, tying knots, bait hooks, fish identification and more.  Greg worked with many families that were fishing for the very first time.  The kids were so excited to see Greg and talk about the fish they caught the past year.  Hannah was so excited to see Greg as she wrote a story about her dad and fishing.  It was so awesome to see the book.  I will work on posting on the website within the next couple of days.

This past Friday, Learn 2 Fish With Us educated the fifth graders at Hawley Environmental School which is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The kids were excited to learn about fishing as they were going on a camping trip the following week and were going to fish.  The kids were taught all the fishing basics from safety, fishing combo’s, fishing presentations, casting, fish identification, parts of a fish, bait, knots, Clean Drain Dry message, catch and release and many things on the environment.  After the Fishing Basics seminar the school was notified that they would be receive fifty fishing combos.  Learn 2 Fish With Us volunteers worked with the kids to rig the fishing combos so they could fish with them at camp.  Greg then worked with the kids to practice casting with the fishing combo’s.  The fifth graders are all excited to go fishing now that they know more about fishing.

This past Friday, Learn 2 Fish With Us educated the third graders at Woodland Elementary which is located in Kimberly, Wisconsin.  The 3rd graders were excited to learn about the Fishing Basics and had plenty of questions during the fishing clinic.  The 3rd graders were also excited as many of them got to work with the Learn 2 Fish With Us Angler Educators on the fishing skills.  Angler Educator Greg Karch let the kids know that they would receive a nice prize if they passed a fishing exam.  At the end of the fishing clinic the kids asked about the exam.  Greg said that he was just kidding and that every youth would get a Fishing Pro Shirt just like his.  They were excited and many youth asked Greg to sign their shirts.  Greg had writers cramp once he was done signing shirts.

This past Friday, Learn 2 Fish With Us educated the third graders at Westside Elementary which is located in Kimberly, Wisconsin.  The 3rd graders were so excited to learn everything needed to go fishing and were engaged throughout the whole seminar.  Many of the youth worked with the angler educators to do the hands on activities.  The kids said Westside is the Best side to be!!!!  When asked if they learned anything they sais YES!!!!!!  Thank you Westside 3rd graders for a great time, I will never for get the time I had with you.  Angler Educator Greg Karch.  Check out the pictures!!!

This past weekend Learn 2 Fish With Us Angler Educator Greg Karch hosted four Fishing Basics seminars during the Madison Fishing Expo.  The seminars were at 10 AM and 2 PM on Saturday and Sunday and they were well attended.  The first seminar had over two hundred people that attended, and for all four we had over five hundred people.  That is how we are going to grow the sport of fishing.  Every youth went home with a fishing combo or Future Pro shirt compliments of the NPAA.  Greg’s wrist is still sore from signing a lot of shirts for the youth.  Greg said it was amazing how many people came up to him and said the seminar was one of the best they attended and I even learned something!!!   Learn 2 Fish With Us mission statement is ‘Grow the sport of fishing by educating and inspiring beginner and experienced anglers!!  Check out all the great pictures along with how interested the kids are on what they are being taught!!!
